I am going to assume you only have a carry-on bag. Whether that be a small suitcase or holder that has limited space. If you are anything like Robyn, you will want to pack your whole wardrobe. Unfortunately, we need to be ruthless in this process.
If you are lucky enough to be jetting away for the weekend with your boyfriend, hand luggage will be your best friend. Not only because it saves you some money, but it also mitigates any risk of your luggage going missing.

To plan your outfits, our top tip would be to wear your heaviest items travelling. So, this could be a coat or boots. This saves you some room and avoids costs for going over the baggage weight limit!
For romantic weekends, Robyn typically takes one or two night outfits. So, it could be a dress, skirt, or a nice top.
For daytime, comfort is key. So jeans or trousers and basic tops or jumpers. However, if it is a hot day, dresses are easy as they are light to pack and easy to style. Or denim shorts if you prefer.
Our weekend trip to Oxford
A few bikinis or swimming costumes will do if you are heading to the beach. However, suppose you really want to save on space. In that case, we suggest packing an oversized t-shirt or bikini cover-up that you can duplicate as another outfit. For example, a bikini cover-up can double as a head scarf or be tied onto a bag.
The key is to keep it simple, don’t throw in that uncomfy short dress that rides up every time you walk because you know you won’t want to wear it. To help you know what to pack for a weekend trip with your boyfriend, throw some fail sake tops in and dress that you know you love just in case.
Shoes
Don’t hate us. But practicality is key. Nothing is worse than being away with a pair of shoes giving you blisters or making your feet too hot.
Trainers will be your best friend if you are on a city break. When we went to Amsterdam, Robyn’s shoes gave her blisters and meant she was uncomfortable for some day trips. This is not ideal, so save yourself the pain and pack your favourite trainers. A neutral black or white is best as it can be styled with anything.
For a beach holiday or somewhere hot, sandals are great. Ones with straps are best as you don’t need to grip them onto your feet all day. Again, boring but practical
Always pack flip-flops for the beach as well! They are so light to pack and can squish in any corner, so always throw them in. Flop-flops are great for most holidays when looking at what to pack for a weekend trip with a boyfriend. Easy for wandering around and in shower rooms.
Accessories
This is where the fashionista in you can come out. Accessories elevate a whole outfit and make your basic items look more pulled together.
The good thing about accessories when packing for a weekend trip with a boyfriend is that they don’t take up a lot of space. But, of course, you can also wear a lot of them while travelling.

Packing Cubes
These packing cubes are a lifesaver! They also make you feel like you can fit more in your bag! As long as you can zip it close, you can stack them in your bag neatly and not have to worry about squishing any tops in corners.
They also help you control what you are taking. Once you have decided on your daily outfits, night outfits and chill wear, you can pack them into the cubes and know how much spare room you have for accessories and shoes!
Travel Bottles
Robyn finds small travel bottles such a convenience! Robyn has really curly hair, and her hair products don’t come in those small mini bottles you get from boots. Therefore, the small travel bottles come in handy when knowing what to pack for a weekend trip with boyfriend.
Simply get your favourite shampoo, conditioner, face wash, moisturiser, whatever you need and decant into the small bottles. They are great for getting through flight security or just help save space when packing for your weekend away with your boyfriend.
Makeup Bag
Robyn’s nan brought her this makeup bag for Christmas a few years ago, and it has been great for weekend trips away. It is like a drawstring bag that can be moulded into whatever size, depending on how much you have in it.
The benefit of this bag is that it opens up really wide, and you can see all your products laid out wherever you are. It is super nifty and great for travelling.
Extras you might forget about
We don’t want to come across as condescending or like your parents, but sometimes there are things we all forget to think about. For example, forgetting paperwork, documents, chargers etc., we have all been there!

Passports! If you are going out of the country, this is probably the first and most important thing you need to pack!

It can be easy to forget, especially if you have used your chargers up to when you are about to leave. So we like to leave a little reminder on our phones to help us remember.

Similarly, a speaker is great for getting the vibes going before a night out or getting ready in the morning when having quality time together.
